Nine Dead In Ambush

SIX US troops died when militants ambushed their foot patrol in the mountains of eastern Afghanistan.

The squad were returning from a meeting with village elders when they were hit by grenades and gunfire.

Three Afghan soldiers were also killed in the attack on Friday.
