Ian Hamilton queues 18 hours to make £100k saving on flat

CANNY Ian Hamilton queued for nearly 18 hours overnight - and saved almost £100,000 on a penthouse sale.

His deal was part of a multi-million pound discount offered on 95 Scottish properties by Countrywide.

Glaswegian Ian turned up for the sale in the city at 3pm on Friday and was joined by nine others overnight.

And when the sale began at 8am yesterday, he snapped up a luxury pad in Kilmarnock valued at s245,000 for just s150,000.

Countrywide hoped the one-off venture would help kick-start a shrinking property market, where prices have dropped four per cent in the past three months, according to Lloyds TSB.

And bargain-hunters snapped up 26 lots in the first four hours of the sale.

Countrywide sales director Michael Miller said: "This was an opportunity to bring motivated sellers and buyers together, and it seems to have worked."
