Banker accused of leaking female customer's details to murder plotter

A BANK boss has been accused of leaking a female customer's details to a man who was plotting to kidnap and murder her.

Paul Moon has been charged under the Data Protection Act and suspended from his post at Lloyds TSB while they launch an inquiry.

Moon, 40, a business manager with the bank, appeared at Falkirk Sheriff Court but no date has been set for a trial.

He was accused of passing details to William Ellis, 49, who was charged with conspiracy to abduct and murder, attempting to pervert the course of justice, being drunk in charge of a vehicle and breach of the peace.

Ellis appeared at the same court on a separate petition three days earlier. Moon worked in Glasgow for Lloyds TSB selling financial packages to businesses.

He lives with wife Fiona in a £350,000 home in Coatbridge and runs two pubs, The Royal in his home town and the Stewarton Arms in Ayrshire.

Heis accused of knowingly procuring information for a third party. He made no plea or declaration.

If convicted he could face a fine of up to £5000.

A spokesman for Lloyds TSB said: "We are aware of an internal security matter but as the case is sub judice we are unable to comment."

A spokesman for Central Scotland Police said they were also unable to comment on the case.
