Council steal kids' bonfire

KILLJOY council workers ruined a Guy Fawkes party by sneakily stealing a kids' bonfire.

Jobsworth officials were backed by police officers as they swooped with a tractor and digger, in Armadale, West Lothian.

It has been used for bonfires for 36 years.

Angry Nina Murdoch said: "There has never been a problem. My children enjoyed it and now my grandchildren should too."

Neighbour Deborah Brown said: "I am furious. The kids put their heart into collecting wood.

"Only one person ever complained and they have moved away."

West Lothian Council said there were safety fears as there were three tons of material in the bonfire and it was close to houses.
