Heartbreak as DJ splits from fiance and daughter falls ill

HEARTBROKEN DJ Suzie McGuire has revealed her split from her fiance after six years together.

Drivetime favourite Suzie, 34, is devastated by the break-up from partner Gregg Ross, 30, father of her two young daughters.

But she insisted they are remaining close for the sake of their children, four-year-old Millie and Daisy, two.

And she revealed she had to deal with more trauma in her personal life last week as Millie was rushed to hospital with suspected meningitis.

Suzie said: "Gregg and I are no longer together as a couple but we're staying together as a family.

"There's no scandal and no one else is involved. We just had to admit we had come to the end of the line together.

"It's heartbreaking and I'm very sad about it but we're determined to stay close friends and we're even going away for the weekend as a family. We've got two wee kiddies and want to do what's best for them. Family is so important to us."

Bubbly Suzie has bravely turned up for all her Clyde 1 shifts despite the break-up and Millie's health scare.

Millie was rushed to Paisley Royal Infirmary when she developed worrying symptoms.

Suzie said: "I thought she had a tummy bug but the doctor found symptoms like headache, intolerance to light and then a rash.

"She got taken to hospital by ambulance and I couldn't believe that the medics were suddenly talking about her as a meningitis case."

Suzie's Clyde 1 colleague George Bowie went through the same ordeal in July when his two-month-old daughter, Miley, contracted meningitis.

She added: "Millie ended up in the same ward and the same room where George's wee girl was treated a few months ago.

It was such an unbelievable co-incidence. They got antibiotics into her right away and thankfully she responded quickly to treatment and was discharged after three days.

"It seems to have been a viral strain and she's great now. George's daughter is doing well too.

"But I do feel I've had one crisis after another over recent weeks."

Suzie, one of Scotland's top DJs, joined Clyde, Scotland's biggest independent radio station, from Westsound eight years ago.

She quickly became one of the station's stars, famed for her saucy on-air chat.

She is dedicated to a string of charity projects and is a driving force for the station's successful Cash for Kids appeal.

Suzie and insurance broker Gregg shared a 19th century lodge house on the south side of Glasgow and got engaged last August.

The couple had met through mutual friends and had their two babies before he proposed over a romantic meal.

But Gregg has now moved out of the family home and is staying in a flat nearby.

Suzie said: "We're still good friends and we see each other every day.

"There's no acrimony. It's just a shame that it hasn't worked out for us and we're obviously upset about it."
