Holiday pair lose staff £1m in pay

TWO politicians cost council workers £1million in wages - because they were on a sunshine break in Majorca.

Labour's Gail Casey and Willie McLaughlin missed an SNP wage equality vote that will lead to pay cuts of up to £11,000 for 980 West Dunbartonshire Council workers.

Councillor George Black said: "If these two hadn't been on holiday the vote would have been 10-8 to Labour."

It's the second time the married couple have cost workers by going on holiday.

In February, they missed a vote on the council's budget - because they were on a cruise to the Canary Islands.

McLaughlin said the latest vote "wasn't scheduled".
