Scotland Bobby Moncur wins cancer fight

FORMER Scotland captain Bobby Moncur has won a nine-month battle with colon cancer.

The 63-year-old revealed the tragic story of England hero Bobby Moore saved his life.

Moncur said: "It's great news. You can never really say all-clear but the cancer has gone. I consider myself very lucky."

Ex-Newcastle United star Moncur went to his doctor after hearing about Moore, who died from bowel cancer in 1993.

Moncur said he had read advice from Moore's wife Stephanie, adding: "She said if Bobby had gone to the doctor when he should have done, he would still be alive.

"I felt Bobby Moore was telling me to do something about it. Within a month I was operated on."
