Golf fall puts Sir Sean Connery in sling

SIR Sean Connery has been injured in a fall while playing golf.

The 007 star chipped a bone in his shoulder and has his arm in a sling.

Connery, 77, took a tumble at an exclusive club in Westchester, New York.

Last night his spokeswoman Nancy Seltzer said: "He tripped while playing golf. He is not in hospital.

"He is fine and enjoying visiting his family."

Connery was rushed to Northern Westchester Hospital in the Big Apple's Mount Kisco and released after treatment.

The area is home to several top golf courses. Connery has had his share of health problems.

He has had regular cancer checks on his throat after growths were found in 1986.

Five years ago he had surgery to have cataracts removed from both eyes.

Last year surgeons removed a benign tumour from his kidney.

Connery will return to his native Edinburgh later this year to launch his autobiography, Being A Scot.

He'll read extracts from it on August 25, his 78th birthday, as part of the 25th Edinburgh International Book Festival.
