Rangers star's goal beat proposal, says fiancee

RANGERS star Nacho Novo's girlfriend Donna Clark has admitted his marriage proposal was NOT her most thrilling experience.

But the Spanish striker will not be too upset - because No1 on Donna's list is the penalty he scored to put Rangers through to the UEFA Cup final.

And the night he popped the question comes a close second.

Donna, 30, who lives with Novo in the west end of Glasgow, said of the semifinal night: "I don't think we have ever been so excited in our lives.

"I think it even beats the night we got engaged, which was fantastic.

"Nacho got home at six the following morning and came into the house shouting, 'Yes, yes, yes,' at the top of his voice."

Mum-of-two Donna, who has been engaged to Nacho, 29, for three years, says she could not bear to watch when he went up to take the penalty in the semi-final against Fiorentina.

She said: "I didn't make it over to Italy for the game but was watching it at my aunt's house.

"We have a tradition before matches that I text him good luck.

"And when I saw him going forward for his penalty, I texted him 'extra extra good luck'. I like to think I willed the ball in the net.

"The only other match that even compares was in May 2005, when Celtic were winning the league at Motherwell.

"Nacho later scored against Hibs to put Rangers ahead on goal difference."

Donna, who is mum to sons Dylan, 12, and Ross, eight, goes to all Rangers' home games and will travel to Manchester for the final. She hopes Nacho will repeat yesterday's form - as he scored twice against Dundee United.

She yesterday showed off the striking outfit the Sunday Mail treated her to for the big event.

She picked out the pretty Matthew Williamson dress and Giuseppe Zanotti killer heels in Glasgow designer store Cruise.

She said: "It will be a very special night and there will be some style on show among the wives and girlfriends.

"I want to make an extra effort to look good as it is a historic match and, if Rangers win, there will be a massive party."

With special thanks to Mary McGowne, of Vine PR and Events, and the staff at Cruise, Glasgow.
