PUBS are duping drinkers into downing more booze by serving bigger measures, doctors claim.
Owners were last night slammed by the Royal College of Physicians for ditching standard 125ml wine glasses for 175ml.
Their president Professor Ian Gilmore accused bar bosses of "being irresponsible" by offering larger measures as standard.
He said: "People want to stay within safe limits but they are being pushed up way over by not realising what they are drinking.
"I think the industry is being irresponsible." Lib-Dem MP Greg Mulholland is trying to push through a law to make all pubs offer the 125ml measure.
But Mark Hastings, of the British Beer and Pub Association, said larger glasses were brought in to meet consumer demand.
