A SCOTS teacher is fighting for life in a South American hospital.
John Thoumire, 25, of Edinburgh, is in a critical condition after falling ill on Christmas Day.
John, who suffers from haemophilia and had a kidney transplant, has a severe lung infection and is waiting to be flown by air ambulance from Venezuela back to the UK.
His dad John Snr and brother Simon, a musician, have flown to his bedside.
John was teaching English in the capital, Caracas.
His mum Elizabeth said: "This has been a nightmare. We're terribly worried.
"His condition is still very serious."
