Slash suspect arrested in his swimming trunks

A SUSPECT in the slashing of Barry Hughes' right-hand man was arrested by undercover police as he sat in a leisure centre's steam room in his swimming trunks.

Colin McKay was quizzed for hours at Glasgow's Baird Street police office but released without charge.

The 40-year-old had previously been accused but not convicted of two separate murders. Paul Fitzpatrick was slashed across the face in Glasgow city centre in May as he tried to get into his Ferrari Testarossa.

Boss Hughes sat in his Rolls-Royce just yards away. The incident was never officially reported to police.

The attack followed a series of clashes between Hughes and bank robber Ian "Blink" McDonald.
