Labour leader Alexander slams year of broken pledges by SNP

LABOUR issued their assessment of a year of SNP rule yesterday, accusing them of "broken promises".

First Minister Alex Salmond is hailing the delivery of flagship policies, including a council tax freeze and the cutting of business rates. But Labour leader Wendy Alexander led a critical review of the Scottish government's performance.

She posed with a giant report card on Glasgow's Sauchiehall Street yesterday, giving "an alternative analysis" of one year of SNP rule, saying that pledges on issues such as housing, health and education had been broken.

Education spokeswoman Rhona Brankin said: "Salmond has systematically let down parents, pupils, teachers and students, breaking promises on key pledges such as reducing classes, building new schools and dumping student debt."
