Canal pair funeral notices placed in chip shop window

FUNERAL notices for former lovers killed in a canal plunge have been posted side by side in a chip shop window.

Calum MacInnes, 52, and Christina Cameron died when he drove his van into the Caldonian Canal.

But despite anger from Christina's family towards MacInnes, the notices are both in Sammy's Fish & Chip Shop in Caol near Fort William.

Mum-of-four Christina, 45, will be laid to rest tomorrow at Glen Nevis Cemetery. MacInnes will be buried on Tuesday at Kilmallie Cemetery.

The couple died in the early hours of the morning at Neptune's Staircase in Lochaber last month.

Hours before the incident, Christina told MacInnes their relationship was over and she was returning to long-time partner Alistair MacKenzie, 54.

The funeral arrangements for MacInnes were put up by his estranged wife, district nurse Jackie, and Christina's by her children and grandchildren.

The shop - co-owned by MacInnes' sister Ann Cameron, is often used to post funeral notices.
