Cancer Girl Kayla Shares Her Happy News..in A Text Breast Cancer Care

KAYLA DOOHAN flashes her diamond engagement ring as she announces plans to marry the man who saved her life.

Fiance Paul Davidson popped the question after supporting her for three years through the trauma of breast cancer.

And the happy couple wasted no time in texting friends with their happy news.

After being diagnosed with the disease three years ago Kayla, 23, could not face telling pals so she broke the news in a brief text ending with a kiss. It read: "I have breast cancer x."

And last week she was able to share the news about her "best check-up ever" - again by text.

She had just seen her consultant and been told she had recovered so well he would only have to see her once a year from now on. She couldn't wait to share the news and sent a text as soon as she reached the car park.

The new message read: "I've just had the best check-up ever. They were talking about the future and having kids x."

Now her joy is complete with the news she is to tie the knot with welder Paul, who proposed during a trip to Paris for Kayla's 23rd birthday.

It was Paul who discovered the lump in her breast when Kayla was just 20.

He badgered her into seeing a doctor and was by her side throughout her exhausting treatment.

Kayla said: "I consider myself a very lucky girl. If it wasn't for Paul I probably wouldn't be here.

"When I was ill in hospital there were times when I couldn't see how I'd ever get to this stage but it's a great feeling and it means there's hope."

Office worker Kayla, of Polbeth, West Lothian, was one of the models in last year's fundraising fashion show run by Breast Cancer Care Scotland.

And as the charity begins the search for this year's budding models, Kayla is urging anyone who has been through breast cancer to come forward.

She said: "The fashion show was one of the best nights of my life. Once I got up on that catwalk I absolutely loved it."
