SANDY AND BEN

These eight-year-old Shelties live with owners Clare and Martin Lumsden in Ayr.

Where did you get them?

From a breeder in Ullapool, where we used to live.

What do they eat?

Burns Pet Nutrition and they have scrambled egg and cheese as a treat.

Where are the names from?

Sandy is named because of his colour and Ben is after Ben Dearg near Ullapool.

What do they like doing?

Ben likes to lie across your knee. Sandy loves chasing a ball on the beach.

How do they behave around people?

Sandy is very wary but soon settles down. Ben is very friendly and affectionate.

What's the oddest thing they have done?

Ben puts his head in the dishwasher. Sandy follows us about the house as if watching over us.

BAXTER

This 19-month-old working cocker spaniel lives with Corinne and Lana Campbell in Stranraer.

Where did you get him?

From a breeder in Paisley.

What does he eat?

Anything he can get his paws on. He really loves Frolic and Winalot.

Where is the name from?

We had a few in mind before we got him but as soon as I saw him I thought he looked like a Baxter.

What does he like doing?

Playing with a ball in the park and swimming in the sea.

How does he behave around people?

He loves to be the centre of attention.

What's the oddest thing he has done?

When he was a puppy he scraped a hole in the wall, ripped up the lino in the conservatory and scratched the door frames.

KARMA, MEEKA AND RAINE

These pugs - aged three, two and eight-months - live with Stephanie Stewart in Glasgow.

Where did you get them?

We got Karma and Meeka from a pug breeder. Raine is Karma's daughter who we bred ourselves.

What do they eat?

They enjoy mince, chicken and liver and also Pedigree small bite mixer.

Where are the names from?

We wanted names that were unique and unusual.

What do they like doing?

They are in constant competition with each other, even battling to see who can get to the mail first when it arrives.

How do they behave around people?

They like to make sure that visitors know they are there by bringing them presents.

What's the oddest thing he has done?

They like to boss our cats about and they are always fighting amongst themselves as well.

LOUIS AND MEG

These four-year-old Shih-tzu siblings live with Graham and Helena McIntosh in Hamilton.

Where did you get them?

From a breeder in Rothesay on Bute.

What do they eat?

Pedigree Chum pouches and dried food with occasional treats.

Where are the names from?

We chose Louis because it sounded regal, like a king - which he is. And Meg is a short and sweet name - which she is.

What do they like doing?

They really love going for long walks in Strathclyde Park.

How do they behave around people?

They are everybody's friends and love being petted and clapped.

What's the oddest thing they have done?

They have a daft half hour every night and chase each other round the garden.
