DOUGAL

This two-year-old West Highland Terrier lives with the Muir family in Newton Stewart, Wigtownshire.

Where did you get him?

From Old Hall Farm in Newton Stewart when he was 10 weeks old.

What does he eat?

He loves bones, dog-friendly chocolate drops and dog food.

Where is his name from?

Our mum Gail suggested that we call him Dougal and we all thought it really suited him.

What does he like doing?

Playing with his toys, going out for walks and getting treats.

How does he behave around people?

He is very friendly and always jumps all over us and visitors until we give him a cuddle.

What's the oddest thing he has done?

When he was a pup he got a plastic bag stuck around his head and tried to get it off by running round the garden wildly.

COCOA

This one-year-old cocker spaniel lives with Olivia Weir, nine, and her seven-year-old sister Lucy in Newton Mearns, near Glasgow.

Where did you get her?

From a breeder in Bearsden, Glasgow.

What does she eat?

Wagg dried dog food but she likes to chew on anything she can get her paws on.

Where is her name from?

We were inspired by the gorgeous chocolate colour of her coat.

What does she like doing?

She loves to run around outside, play fetch and swim in the sea or river.

How does she behave around people?

She is very friendly and loves to get lots of cuddles. Her favourite visitors are her two best friends, Ella and Meg.

What's the oddest thing she has done?

When she wakes up in the morning, she insists on getting the whole house out of bed by jumping on everyone and singing very loudly.

MURPHY

This eight-month-old boxer lives with Joanne and Mark McGonnell in Cumbernauld.

Where did you get him?

From Glenauld Kennels, Strathaven, Lanarkshire.

What does he eat?

Iams puppy food.

Where is the name from?

His coat is the same creamy brown colour as a pint of stout, so we named him after a popular brand.

What does he like doing?

Chasing our pet cat and playing with all of his toys.

How does he behave around people?

He loves meeting folk, especially children, and adores getting lots of attention and cuddles. He's definitely at his best in a crowd.

What's the oddest thing he has done?

When we talk him out for walks, he always enjoys himself so much that he never wants to come home. He lies down and plays dead, refusing to head back.

SOOTY

This 24-year-old cat lives with Paolo Doyle in Glasgow.

Where did you get her?

She followed my other cat, Chloe, home one day. She was just a few weeks old and was so cute that I couldn't resist adopting her.

What does she eat?

She loves the gravy from cat food, olives and chicken.

Where is the name from?

From her shiny black coat.

What does she like doing?

She loves drinking water straight from the tap rather than out of her dish. She also adores having her tummy tickled.

How does she behave around people?

She is a very sociable moggy and doesn't hesitate to take up a comfy residence on folks' laps when they come to visit me.

What's the oddest thing she has done?

She once woke me up in the middle of the night after a tap had been left on and the bath was about to overflow. A major flooding crisis was averted thanks to her keen senses!
