Animal testing has helped develop lifesaving vaccines for rabies, polio and TB.

But it seems there is no need for many of the 2.7million live animal experiments carried out every year in Britain as results can often be misleading.

Experts claim many of these tests would not have to be done if firms shared more knowledge.

Animals have as much right to a life free of suffering as us.
