A duck has made legal history - by becoming the first bird to be awarded a protection order by a court.
Yellow-billed Peking duck Circles was shot in the throat by thugs who climbed into owner Janet Lippincott's garden.
A judge in Suffolk County Court, New York, ordered the 21-year-old shooter to stay away from the bird after he pled guilty to animal cruelty charges. It is the first poultry protection order issued.
