I SOLD my flat two years ago and my lawyer agreed to retain £750 for work to be done on the property. I have received a letter asking for £750 as he forgot to keep the cash.

Do I have to pay?

YES, as you agreed £750 was to be kept for the work. Your lawyer passed the £750 to you in error so you are obliged to return it.
