LEGAL helplines have reported record calls from bosses asking how to sack staff amid fears the credit crunch is taking its toll on the jobs market.

Insurers Allianz said their Lawphone helpline received a massive increase in the number of queries concerning redundancy and employment issues last month.

Earlier this month the British Chambers of Commerce predicted up to 300,000 jobs would be axed by 2011 as the economy went into reverse.
