MORE than 100 jobs will be up for grabs if plans for a new five-star hotel get the go-ahead.

The Fitzpatrick Hotel group plan to transform a Georgian townhouse in Baxter Place, Edinburgh, into a 150-bedroom facility.

The building, next to the Edinburgh Playhouse, was chosen because it is on the city's proposed tram route, set to be operating by February 2011. The deal is thought to be worth £8million.
