New Homes Stunning Duplex Is Perfect For Sons' Homecoming
Bringing her family back together under the same roof was the challenge for househunter Cathie Forbes.
Her sons Daniel, 19, and Sandy, 20, were moving back home after renting a flat together and Cathie needed a place that was big enough for herself, partner Graham Macdonald AND the boys.
They had looked at traditional family homes but Cathie and Graham finally plumped for a brand new duplex flat in Granton, Edinburgh.
Built by George Wimpey, the three-bed home offered enough space for the family but without the high maintenance of a detached home.
Cathie, 42, said: "I couldn't believe how much living space this property has.
"Both the kitchen/diner and living room are impressive spaces, plus we've got three fantastic bedrooms.
"And because the apartment is over two floors we still have the beauty of a traditional family home layout.
"Our private entrance leads you to the main living areas, which includes the kitchen/diner, utility area, living room and a downstairs WC.
"Upstairs is devoted to our three amazing bedrooms and the family bathroom.
"Plus we don't have the hassle and maintenance of a large garden. We have a small, private garden that's a perfect place to relax in, so we feel we've got the best of both worlds.
"It's the perfect property for the way we live our lives. We're all busy working full-time but need plenty of space for chilling out in the evenings." Cathie and Graham's home at Wimpey's Harbour Green development is close to the port of Leith, which has undergone a massive transformation in recent years.
Cathie said: "We're a very sociable family and enjoy each other's company and the relaxed atmosphere of the nearby Leith shore makes us feel really confident about our move."
Cathie and Graham also took advantage of George Wimpey's part-exchange scheme to sell their old flat in Leith - taking just six weeks from viewing Harbour Green to moving in.
Cathie said: "It's reassuring that at a time when there's so much bad news about buying a new property that you'll find people like us who've successfully gone through the process and come out the other end feeling happy with our move."
Just three properties remain at Harbour Green, including a four-bed duplex flat, at £320,000 and two three-bed apartments, starting from £185,000.
