Seaplane scare as part falls on houses

A SEAPLANE was forced into an emergency landing after part of it broke off and landed amid houses.

Luckily no one was hurt when one of the Cessna 208's rudders fell into a garden after taking off from the Clyde.

It was flying from Glasgow Science Centre near the city centre to Loch Lomond but diverted to Glasgow Airport.

Aviation expert Jim Ferguson said yesterday: "The rudder could easily have caused death or serious injury if it had hit a person or a car."

The aircraft is one of two seaplanes flying betweeen Glasgow, Oban and Tobermory on Mull.

The Air Accidents Investigation Branch have relaunched their probe after new information about the May incident.

Loch Lomond Seaplanes said: "It did not affect the safety and handling of the aircraft."
