New Homes It All Adds Up As Accountant Stuart Finds His Dream Pad

Accountants do their sums - and for one couple a village location and bargain price added up to the perfect home.

Newly-qualified chartered accountant Stuart Wray moved from a job in Dundee to work for car parts giant Kwik Fit in West Lothian, while wife Catherine, 29, wanted to keep her job as a computer programmer in the Tayside city.

Stuart, 26, originally from Northern Ireland, said: "The Edinburgh area is very expensive and we had to find somewhere in between there and Dundee. We wanted a new house reasonably close to where we both work and this is ideal.

"We wanted an affordable detached house because I have just qualified and we needed a fairly large garden because we're going to buy a dog."

The couple looked at various developments around their target area and finally plumped for a three-bed detached home at The Bridge, a small development of just eight houses in the Kinross village of Milnathort, built by GRS Estates.

The site has four three-bed homes and four four-bed properties.

Stuart said: "It's a beautiful place. We were cycling round Loch Leven the other day and couldn't believe our luck.

"Having gone to university in Dundee and lived there, it's a huge difference. There's a great view of the hills from the master bedroom and there's stunning countryside all around us."

The couple are really impressed with the size of the house.

Stuart added: "The solid kitchen is great and there's loads of cupboard space. The house is spacious and the quality of the workmanship is very good.

"It was all painted when we moved in, which saved me an enormous amount of work. Even after the snagging period had finished, the firm still fixed things.

"I had never heard of the developer before but they've definitely left a good impression on me.

"It's a nice town and proving popular as a commuter base because Edinburgh is only around 30 miles away."

There are still three and four-bed houses on offer at The Bridge, with prices ranging from £199,995 to £249,995.
