Honeymooners Could Only Think Of Home They'd Spotted
David and Belinda Deacon could not wait to get back from their honeymoon - because they had spotted the house of their dreams the day before they were married.
Belinda said: "We were really just killing time before the wedding and went to look at the showhouse.
"It was just one of those things - it just hits you. We both instantly liked it and knew it was the house for us."
Social workers Belinda, 39, and David, 59, saw the house on a Friday, were married the next day then went to Spain on honeymoon for 10 days.
Belinda said: "The honeymoon was great but we were both desperate to get back just to make sure we got the house we wanted.
"We more or less went straight to the bank as soon as we got off the plane."
The pair, who had been living in a 1970s terraced home in Glenrothes, bought a new, £160,000, three-bedroom Kentmere townhouse spread over three floors from Barratt East Scotland at Falcon Wood, also in Glenrothes.
The main advantage was a trio of bathrooms - two en suite - so her children Emma, 17, and 14-year-old Dale didn't have to squabble over who was first in the mornings.
Belinda said with a laugh: "There are certainly fewer fights in the mornings now and Emma is over the moon that she has her own en suite."
The house boasts a shower room, utility room and one bedroom on the ground floor, with the kitchen and dining area in the middle, while the upper floor houses the two ensuite bedrooms.
Belinda said: "It's good that Dale and Emma feel they have their own space because if there is a teenage war, they can both go their separate ways.
"We also have three cocker spaniels so we can keep them in the utility room while we're out at work during the day and they sleep in there as well."
The house already came painted in neutral shades and complete with carpets so the family didn't even have to decorate when they moved in last year.
She added: "It was just the way we wanted it. David loves it too.
"We both realised from the way we looked at each other when we first saw it that we had to buy it - and I'm really glad we did."
Falcon Wood are offering the four-bed, detached Gloucester at £197,495 and the three-bedroom Derwent, also detached, at £182,495.
