It was a choice between Charlie and Alfie but when we got him we all agreed he looked like a Charlie.

He loves to be outside regardless of the weather.

How does he behave around people?

He gets very excited around visitors and loves attention.

What's the oddest thing he has done?

Nothing really. But when he was three months old we learned he was epileptic. He gets medication and has not had a seizure in months.

GUINNESS

Where did you get him?

From a woman in Patna, Ayrshire, whose cat had had kittens.

Whiskas and Felix cat food and he likes Carnation milk.

The tip of his tail is black and his chin is white, like the colours of a pint of Guinness.

Sleeping in the sunshine and prowling around outside during the night.

How does he behave around people?

He is very friendly around adults but can be hesitant around children.

What's the oddest thing he has done?

He caught a rabbit during one of his nightly prowls and brought it into the house through the cat-flap.

MURPHY

This six-month-old soft-coated wheaten terrier lives with the O'Donnell family in Bearsden, near Glasgow.

Where did you get him?

From a breeder in Newcastle.

What does he eat?

Burns mini bites but he would eat anything if he was allowed. He loves chicken and cheese.

Where is his name from?

His breed is Irish so we wanted an Irish name. We felt he looked like a Murphy.

What does he like doing?

Digging holes and running about mad. He loves chasing birds and his tail.

How does he behave around people?

He greets everyone as though they are long-lost friends and tries to kiss them.

What's the oddest thing he has done?

He rummages through the washing basket for bras then runs away with them and hides them under the table. He also tries to climb into the dishwasher and lick the plates.

TOOTS

This cute cat lives with the Russell family in Alloa, Clackmannanshire.

Where did you get her?

From the Cats Protection League.

What does she eat?

Dried cat food and tuna as a treat.

Where is her name from?

When we first brought her home she kept meowing in her basket. My mum said, "It's okay toots" and the name stuck.

What does she like doing?

She loves to laze about in sunny spots and likes to sit on your knee to be tickled.

How does she behave around people?

She is quite shy and usually runs away unless you are close family.

What's the oddest thing she has done?

Now that she is getting older she can't be bothered using her cat-flap, so she sits and knocks on it with her paw as if she is knocking at the door. She does this until you let her in or out.
