Block Out Kids' Sun, Not Fun

Q WE are taking our three-year-old daughter abroad for the first time. How much sun can she take? I recall getting brown as a berry on holiday.

A THE sad fact is that it wasn't safe then, our parents just didn't know the risks to young skin. Studies show the more sun you are exposed to as a child, especially if you burn, the higher the risk of skin cancer as an adult.

Put a total sunblock on your daughter at all times and get her a wide-brimmed hat. You can also buy an all-in-one sun suit for when she is out. She can still have fun but a tan is very unhealthy for a child.
