DAD COULD SQUEEZE 13 OF US IN HIS ZEPHYR

0-60 SECOND INTERVIEW

SUNDAY MAIL football pundit and Scotsport presenter Andy Walker has fond memories of his first car even though his pals poked fun at it.

These days the former Celtic star rolls around in the luxury of a big Merc but it's a far cry from his dad's old Ford Zephyr, which held 13.

What was your first car?

I passed my test at 18 and bought a Honda Prelude for £1500. It was a sporty two-door that I used every day to travel to Motherwell, my first club. I gave Fraser Wishart a lift in those days and he complained that it ran on skis given the lack of tread in the tyres. I even remember the number plate, ASR 126T.

What do you drive now?

I've had a Mercedes CLK 240 for four years which has been an absolute pleasure to drive.

What do you listen to on the move?

I always have the radio tuned to Clyde 1. Great DJs, great sounds and fantastic sports coverage.

Would you replace a punctured tyre or call for help?

I've had to repair the odd puncture myself once or twice.

Who would be your dream passenger and who would you leave stranded?

My wife is my dream passenger... but she knows if I ever meet Halle Berry, she is history!

Favourite car of all time?

I seem to remember the E-type Jag was pretty cool when I was growing up, as was the Triumph Stag. But my favourite has to be the Ford Zephyr my Dad used to drive us to Weymouth in every year for our summer holiday. It held 13 of us no problem. Great days.

Andy presents Scotsport Monday nights on STV.
